My Shoe Affair

"I don't know who invented the high heel,
but all men owe a lot to him." - Marilyn Monroe

It's official! well, sort of, at least' Shoes are what woman can't get enough of'.This is true...I have to admit. I love shoes & I can't get enough of them even those who gives blisters & pain to my toes. I love those, too.Shoes makes me feel sexy & self -assured.

Here in Deutschland , almost half of the german women own at least 25 pairs(According to a poll conducted by Laura magazine)

Of the 1,000 women between the age of 20 and 50 questioned, another 38 percent said they had between 10 and 25 pairs to choose from. A meager 17 percent is limited to 10 pairs or less.

So why we love shoes?

Psychologists have vigorously sought the hidden meaning of shoes, ranging from phallic symbols to secret vessels. Some claim that the female shoe-collector is a frustrated traveler, while others believe she is symbolically searching for enlightenment. It may even be simpler than that, says fashion critic Holly Brubach. A new pair of shoes "might not cure a broken heart or soothe a tension headache," she writes, "but they will relieve the symptoms and chase away the blues."

Whatever the reason, women love their shoes.

We still remember our former first lady Imelda Marcos and her infamous collection of designer shoes. Once quoted as saying "I have no weakness for shoes", she donated her enormous collection of over 1200 shoes to the Shoe Museum near Manila. Whether she liked it or not, there is no doubt that shoes changed the ex- first lady's life. "I have been ridiculed, vilified and persecuted because of my shoes. But in a way they saved me. Because when they went through my closets looking for skeletons, all they found were shoes."

Imelda's collection is nothing in comparison to the world's great shoe maniac like Mariah Carey reportedly tops that list, claiming to own more than 10,000.

Whew!

Me? well, I have less than 30 pairs of shoes in my closet & still counting,hehe...
How about you? How many pairs of shoes do you have?

Here's some tips lifted for you:

Choosing Shoes That Fit

Poorly fitting shoes are painful and can promote foot problems. To make sure new shoes fit properly, follow this advice from the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the National Shoe Retailers Association and the Pedorthic Footwear Association.

-Sizes vary among brands and styles. Judge the shoe by how it fits your foot, not by the size marked on the box.
-Select a shoe that conforms as nearly as possible to the shape of your foot.
-Have your feet measured regularly. Foot size changes as you grow older.
-One foot is usually bigger than the other. Measure both, and fit shoes to the larger foot.
-Fit shoes at the end of the day when your feet are largest.
-Stand up and check that there is at least 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch of space in the shoe beyond your longest toe.
-Make sure the ball of your foot fits comfortably into the widest part of the shoe.
-Don't buy shoes that feel tight, expecting them to stretch.
-Your heel should fit comfortably in the shoe with minimum slippage.
-Walk in the shoe to make sure it feels comfortable.
