Typically German (More than Beer and Bratwurst?)

Germans drink beer at the Oktoberfest, in lederhosen and a silly hat. Proper Germans are blond and have blue eyes. They live on sausages with sauerkraut. And their music does not go beyond Beethoven and Bach. Clichees abound. Always good for a laugh when you try to find an answer for what is typically German. But what is typical, when you are talking about a country with a population of more than 80 million? Is it typical, that Germans have a hard time being positive about themselves? You can’t think of anything either? How about hospitality, generosity and a readiness to help. Punctuality perhaps and zeal. Whatever, in the past ten years, German society has changed. Influenced by many people of different nationalities who have come and now call Germany home. And as a result, many of the old clichees just don’t work anymore. Yet the tale of the "nasty German", who has such a problem with his image in the world, was one Boris Becker and Claudia Schiffer could not get around either. But if you come to Germany with an open mind, you’re in for a surprise. You will find Germans with dreadlocks. And Germans who eat kebabs. Germans who like to laugh and live it up. In many places the mentality of ordinary Germans is closer to those in neighbouring countries, than it is to Germans in other (Bundes)Länder. Modern Germany is far too diverse and complex to fit into a simple clichee. There is something new to discover that is "typical" everyday. And that is probably "typically German" as well.

Getting Bored? Don't Worry..

"Nobody is bored when he is trying to make something that is beautiful or to discover something that is true."
-W. R. Inge

Every now and then, we need to re-think what we really need and want in life.Otherwise, things will suck us up to boredom. If you notice, each moment we re-evaluate of something we would like in our lives, our fate works towards that end. For example, if you are in a friendship or in situation which you are not particularly happy and you ask for something better, don't be surprised. That someone or unkind situation will vanish.Odd!you'd think!but changes will come and you'll be wondering why..

Some years ago in Turkey while I was still single & working.I was getting bored for the reason I didn't know, not that I was having a bad times or unpleasant friends or something. That was the dullest moment in my life! But a year after,I met a man, married him & joined him to his country and then we're blessed with a beautiful son.Life changes comes unexpectedly and I'm still asking the same question, If I have desired all this out of boredom?hehe

Now you see,the effect & consequences of getting bored with the life. So therefore, next time you think you're bored, don't worry! Changes will come your way....

Lechoses!tinakot pa kilay kow,mwahaha

Talk to me,baby!

I've been saying the word, 'mama',practicing it with our li'l seb since he was born, but 'Dada' was becoming his first word. That 'dada' turns to 'papa' many weeks ago.'There is a favoritism in this house'I told my husband! (hehe) as li'l seb never utter the word I've been waiting to hear,'mama'...please say mama!!I'd say BUT obviously mama is not seb's fave word until last saturday,my baby finally uttered 'mama'for the very first time wowowww!!I was very delighted & hugged my baby.

He can say several words as well like:
appuh-for apples,
appuh-also for banana,hehe
auto-cars
bah-bus
tweetwee-for train
ehbe-for airplane
ehbe-(for sebe)when pointing himself in the mirror
dak-duck
bebe-baby
mimi-for animals
bal-ball
bye-bye
hi!-hi!
dankyu-thankyou ( I think he's combining thankyou & danke,ngeeks!)

He also makes several animal noises like meow meow ,quack quack and aw aw ( he's so good at this, haha)

I'm still wondering, why do baby says 'mama' depressingly late? or Is it just me??uhmmm... :)

Promises,Promises

We all make promises we don't keep.We promise for example to call someone back later in the day,or to stop by and visit soon BUT things just doesn't happen. We have every intention of following through on our promises(most of the time),but life interferes! you know, one gets sick,a child gets tantrums,friends/relatives visits unexpectedly,or we simply forget. This is very normal, and if this happens only now & then, it should be ok.
However, you meet a person consistently forgets, neglects commitments. She says what sounds that pleases you without really caring whether she'll be able to deliver it.And you call this person a promise-breaker and you don't want to rely on her anymore as she's in between the person who makes promise without thinking or caring it through and the one who makes promises with no intention of keeping it at all.Such a dishonest, insensitive character makes me sick sometimes.Should I expect her to change? or just run ....?

Frog

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

She has been plagued with bizarre dreams lately which is making her such a nervous jitters, like the kind you get when you drive in Autobahn(Highway) on snowy weather.Sometimes, she is shaking for no reason at all.She have no clue what's wrong with her.Is she crazy or just being silly? No one knows. She has to pee like crazy with the constant runnning back & forth, three times in a row at night. She's so tired, then on top of it,freakin' morning sickness & breast pain. She's getting so forgetful and clumsy lately as well, like forgetting what you went for in the kitchen or forgetting to lock the door or leaving the house on this cold weather without her jacket on.Then, she asked again..what is wrong with her? Is she crazy or just being silly? then she answered..she is just being froggy!!LOL

To the darling people in blogworld, wish her luck!

Alles Banane!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!
This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains re gulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

I've Learned (and the autumn blues continues..hehe)

To Miss Dordrecht
& to Miss Erfurt
& to the Ladies in the House,
here's for us...

I've learned-That you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned-That no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.
I've learned-That it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned-That it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned-That you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something.
I've learned-That you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do.
I've learned-That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I've learned-That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I've learned-That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I've learned-That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I've learned-That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

Pay a fee to be hugged?

I was amused after reading an article yesterday about a club here in germany doing this sort of thing. They called it 'Cuddle Club' is like a spa-type club where you pay an annual membership fee and get hugged/cuddled.No kissing & sex is allowed,it says.

This is silly, I thought! I understand people love to be hugged/cuddled and I personally think hugses is healthy socially and emotionally but why would anyone pay for a hug where you can get them from a friend, family or lover (if there's any?) for 'free'?
